Chicago Family Photographer in Spring

Being a Chicago family photographer in spring is such a privilege. Let me tell you, spring family photos are just as popular and gorgeous as fall family photos, maybe more so! Fluffy blooms and warm temperatures (but not sweaty hot) make the perfect setting for portraits! The month of May very well could be my favorite month to photograph families and children outside in the golden hour light. From beginning to end, it’s such a versatile month with a range of backgrounds and flowers. Here in Chicago, at the beginning of the month you’ll have tulips, daffodils and Glory of the Snow (those tiny periwinkle blue flowers that cover the grass). About mid-month (depending on the warm weather), you’ll have full-on fluffy blooms in shades of pink, white, and yellow. Towards the end of the month, other summer flowers tend to crop up and the background is fully green and lush. As you can see, you have many choices. I like to ask moms what colors are used most in the decor around their home. This way they can think about outfit color wheels, as well as what backgrounds will look best. Also, maybe you can’t stand yellow and pink but you don’t want to wait until the summer because of the heat. You simply can opt for the end of the month, or wait until June when it’s still mild temperatures.
