Chicago Newborn Photographer

This little newborn was such an answer to prayer. I think sometimes when everyone we know is having babies or has lots of children already, we forget what miracles they are. So many factors have to fall perfectly into place for one little soul to be formed in a mama’s tummy…”for you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Psalm 139: 13-14).

Not only are they a miracle, but a gift. Think about the idea of a gift for a moment. They are always given out of the kindness and thoughtfulness of someone’s heart. And how do people typically react to gifts? We’re so flattered…overjoyed…thankful…humbled! That is how I see new parents reacting to their child when they come into the world. It is a beautiful thing to witness.

It was such a joy to watch Ashley and Trey in action in the first days of their newborn baby’s life. As a photographer, you feel privileged to be allowed into a new and delicate world for these parents, to collect those moments for them in your camera. In a day where everyone has become a photographer with their phones, I have the opportunity to tell a story that phones can’t replicate (even with the best filters).

The natural light that was pouring through the windows of their home gave these photos such a warm and genuine touch. Planning a newborn photo session in your home never fails to tell the real story of your family – where you brought baby home to, what their nursery looked like, the simplicity and authenticity of life with your new child…all the things that a studio won’t give you.

Since I took these photos, he seems to have already grown into a little man! They seriously grow so fast, it’s hard to keep up! Enjoy some of my favorites from this precious newborn session!
